The day started out a little grim, with patches of rain and a lot of cloud cover, but I have to say, the few that braved the weather, had an awesome time! It turned out to be perfect weather for it! We had a little drizzle on the way up, which was actually quite refreshing then as we approached Fairlight, the sun shone done on us so hard that we’d have baked if it was out the whole way.
I have to make a special mention to Jen McNamara, who paid over $100 in a taxi to get to the Spit from a friend’s place (she’d had a late night with), and came on the walk with us, hangover in tow. That is pure dedication! I’m sure walking nearly 10k’s was exactly what she needed ;) Seriously, well done, Jen!
Parts of the walk were steeper and longer than I expected, but it made me feel like I was working out more and really burning a few extra calories. The view at the top was breathtaking and made me think, I’d have walked twice as far to see it.
The walk was like a tiny, tiny (we’re talking microscopic here) insight into the challenge, camaraderie and fun our team is going to have when climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa in November this year. There is going to be a lot of sweat and tears, as well as fun, team spirit and an immense sense of achievement. And knowing how beautiful the view is going to be when we reach the top of Mount Kili is just too exciting for words!
The walk was great and when we reached Manly after just 2 hours, we had a good stretch and a lovely lunch at 4 Pines restaurant. The whole day was fantastic and I’d like to thank everyone who attended.
Hopefully see you on the next Adventure!!
